Grant Description
Grants to Texas nonprofit organizations for activities that benefit residents in eligible regions. Applicants are required to submit an LOI prior to the full application. The funder's focus is on the areas of children's education, basic needs, and mentoring for women and young girls. Requests that address a critical or basic need, fund a pilot program, or expand a significant service to the community will be considered. The grant amount requested must be spent to benefit the residents of the greater Houston community, including these counties: Brazoria, Fort Bend, Harris, and/or Waller.

The Junior League of Houston, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
- The Community Assistance Committee evaluates grant applications for projects in the greater Houston community that do not currently receive volunteer support from the League.
- The requesting organization must be tax-exempt. Requests must be accompanied by a copy of the tax exemption letter from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and evidence as to the organization’s qualification as a public charity organization as defined in section 509(a)(1), (2) or (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The requesting organization must be registered as a 501(c)(3) organization.
-Organizations must be located in the following Texas counties of the greater Houston community: Brazoria, Fort Bend, Harris and/or Waller.

Ineligible
- Requests for items or services that directly or indirectly assist or implement fundraising activities of the organization will not be considered.
- Requests for reimbursement will not be considered.
- Requests for unrestricted funds for capital campaigns will not be considered.
- Organizations that currently receive volunteer support from the League may not apply.

Pre-Application Information
Timeline:
- Please note that The Junior League of Houston, Inc. is using a two-step application process. Application review begins in June, with final awards made in January.
- Part One of the application is the submission of a Letter of Intent (LOI), which is due at 11:59 p.m. on June 1, 2023.
- Agencies selected to complete Part Two of the application will be notified by the Community Assistance Committee in early July 2023.
- Part Two of the application will be due by 11:59 p.m. on August 1, 2023.

- An organization may receive a Community Assistance Grant only once every three years.
- Applications will not be accepted via mail, fax, hand delivery, or email.
