Grant Description
Grants of up to $6,500 and grants of up to $10,000 to Texas nonprofit organizations for projects to benefit animals in eligible counties. Funding may be used to provide equine therapy, advance animal welfare, and protect animals that have been abandoned or abused. Projects that benefit dogs and cats may take place in Tarrant and Johnson counties. Projects related to equine welfare and therapy may take place in the following counties: Tarrant, Parker, Johnson, Young, Jack, Denton, Wise, Hood, Somervell, Bosque, and Hill.

North Texas Community Foundation is proud to support local animal welfare organizations working on the ground to rescue abused, injured or lost animals. Funding focuses primarily on dogs, cats and horses. The Foundation also supports organizations providing important equine-assisted therapy services. 

Dogs & Cats

  • Focus: Abused, injured or abandoned animals. 
  • Priority will be given to organizations that serve dogs and cats.

Equine Welfare & Therapy

  • Focus: Equine welfare, protection, and equine therapy.
  • Organizations that offer equine rescue, shelter, rehabilitation, adoption/foster care services, education about humane treatment of horses, or equine assisted therapy are eligible.
  • Equine therapy programs must be accredited by PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) International.

501(c)(3) nonprofits are invited to apply.

Dogs and Cats Geographic eligibility: Tarrant and Johnson Counties

Equine Welfare and Therapy Geographic Eligibility: Tarrant, Parker, Johnson, Young, Jack, Denton, Wise, Hood, Somervell, Bosque, and Hill Counties.

Organizations must not be breed-specific.

Pre-Proposal Conference
Applicants are invited to attend an optional orientation over Zoom on August 29th to learn about this grant opportunity, the application process, and ask NTCF staff questions.

Estimated Size of Grant
