Award of $1,000 to a Texas educator for outstanding contributions and commitment to Holocaust studies. The award is intended to honor a librarian, classroom teacher, or curriculum specialist who has demonstrated a record of excellence in engaging Texas students (grades 6-12) in studies related to genocides and the Holocaust.

The Texas Holocaust and Genocide Commission (THGC) is firmly committed to supporting efforts to teach the next generation about the Holocaust and/or genocides in the Ottoman Empire (Armenians), Cambodia, Rwanda, the Balkans, Sudan (Darfur), and the Middle East (Iraq and Syria).

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must:
- Hold at least a bachelor's degree.
- Be employed full-time as a teacher, curriculum specialist, or librarian at a public, charter, or private school in the state of Texas.
- Have at least three (3) years of experience working with students.
- Have a record of teaching or actively supporting the teaching of the Holocaust and/or genocides in the Ottoman Empire (Armenians), Cambodia, Rwanda, the Balkans, Sudan (Darfur), and the Middle East (Iraq and Syria) to students in grades 6-12.

Application materials must be received in their entirety by 4:00 P.M. C.D.T. on Friday, April 30, 2021.

The judging committee would prefer thorough, detailed applications that meet the deadline, not ones that prioritize earliness instead of substantial content. Please take your time to make sure you do justice to your hard work on your campus so that the judging committee can "see it."
