In-kind grants of volunteer support at short-term community-based events to Austin, Texas nonprofit organizations. Volunteers can participate in a variety of events, including fundraisers, food bank distribution, picnics, holiday parties, egg hunts, children's shoe collection and delivery, and 10K race water distribution.

Volunteer placements are generally scheduled in four-hour shifts over a time span of half-day, one-day, or two-day periods. If needed, shifts could be up to eight hours in length, as long as the eight-hour shift includes a one-hour lunch break.

Term of Contract:

- The Fall Cycle is for projects running from September 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019.
- The Winter Cycle is for projects running from from January 1, 2020 through March 15, 2020.
- The Spring Cycle is for projects running from March 16, 2020 through May 31, 2020.
- The Summer Cycle is for projects running from June 1, 2020 through August 31, 2020.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Nonprofits agencies may request volunteer assistance at events; however, the volunteers may not solicit funds or goods for an agency prior to or during an event.

Volunteers can work at a silent auction, but they cannot take bids.

Pre-Application Information:

The following application deadlines apply for the 2019-2020 year:
- Fall Cycle: Applications due July 30, 2019
- Winter Cycle: Applications due September 1, 2019
- Spring Cycle: Applications due December 22, 2019
- Summer Cycle: Applications due March 29, 2020

Applicants may apply for up to 5 projects per cycle. Applications are to be submitted online using the Done-In-A-Day Application. When requesting multiple projects/shifts, applicants are required to submit a separate application for each project/shift.

In the event of a last minute or emergency need for Volunteers, applicants should submit a Done-In-A-Day Emergency Application. The application will be reviewed, and a response will be received quickly. The application must state why this is an emergency; otherwise, it will not be considered.

Emergency applications must be submitted at least one month before the event, in order to obtain approvals and recruit volunteers. Applications submitted less than one month before the event cannot be approved.

Organizations may require Volunteers to complete 1 hour of training before they do their Done-In-A-Day shift; it will be considered part of the total hours required for the shift.
