The Brown Foundation, Inc. has four pre-application cycles per year. If you are a new applicant, you may apply in any of the 2021-2022 cycles. Current grantees typically should select the cycle closest to your application last year.
Cycle 1: Pre-application opens on May 1, 2022. Pre-application deadline on May 31, 2022, 5:00 p.m. CST
- Cycle 2: Pre-application opens on July 1, 2022. Pre-application deadline on July 31, 2022, 5:00 p.m. CST
- Cycle 3: Pre-application opens on Oct 1, 2022. Ppre-application deadline on Oct 31, 2022, 5:00 p.m. CST
- Cycle 4: Pre-application opens on Jan 1, 2023. Pre-application deadline on Jan 31, 2023, 5:00 p.m. CST
If you submit your pre-application outside of these cycles, your pre-application will be reviewed but will remain pending until the next cycle opens.
The first step in the application process is a brief pre-application form. All applicants must complete the pre-application, including current grantees of the Foundation. After review, staff will notify you via email if you have been invited to submit a full proposal or if your application has been declined. If you have been invited to submit a full proposal, you will receive instructions about how to access the online Grantee Community. Invited applicants will be notified of the final deadline for the full proposal and will have approximately one month to submit a proposal.
If you apply during the specified cycle times, you should receive a decision approximately 30 days after the close date for the pre-application window. For example, if you apply by July 31, you should expect a decision by the end of August.
Organizations may not apply more than once per year.
